Insulin Resistance and Cardiovascular Risk

Insulin resistance is a pathological condition related to metabolic alterations that produce a high risk of presenting diseases of cardiovascular origin, as well as evolving to Diabetes Mellitus II.
It is characterized by a decrease in insulin sensitivity, dyslipidemia and a greater probability of thrombotic diseases.
Patients diagnosed with insulin resistance have twice the atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk, being prone to acute myocardial infarction.
Measures for the prevention, management and control of insulin resistance have a great impact on public health, mainly in acute coronary pathologies.
