Seasonal Influenza
Seasonal influenza is an acute respiratory disease caused by the influenza virus. Its symptoms are of greater intensity and severity.
The duration of the disease is "self-limiting", that is, it gets better after a few days. However, it can sometimes produce more severe symptoms, such as pneumonia and other complications, which infrequently can lead to death.
According to WHO, the age group most vulnerable to these complications are the elderly, people with chronic diseases, nursing infants and pregnant women. It can be prevented by practicing basic hygiene measures, such as frequent hand washing with soap and water or alcohol-gel preparations and the proper use of tissues to cover the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
