Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever
Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a widespread disease caused by a tick-borne virus (Nairovirus) of the Bunyaviridae family.
This virus causes severe outbreaks of viral hemorrhagic fever, with a case fatality rate of 10%-40%. According to WHO data.
CCHF is endemic in Africa, the Balkans, the Middle East and Asia in countries below 50o north latitude, which is the geographical limit of the tick that is its main vector. There is no vaccine available for humans or animals.
