Rift Valley Fever
Rift Valley fever (RVF) is a viral zoonosis that mainly affects animals, although it can also affect humans.
Most human infections are due to contact with the blood or organs of infected animals. Infections have also occurred through the bite of infected mosquitoes. To date, human-to-human transmission has not been documented.
The incubation period (interval between infection and onset of symptoms) ranges from two to six days.
Outbreaks of RVF in animals can be prevented by a continuous vaccination program.
