According to WHO data, estimates, in 2019 236 000 people died from drowning, making it a serious public health problem worldwide.
In 2019, trauma accounted for nearly 8% of total global mortality. Drowning, which is the third leading cause of unintentional trauma mortality, accounted for 7% of all trauma-related deaths.
